Who We Are

Dr. Mike

Dr. Mike Brown Dowling

Pediatric Dentist/Practice Owner

I strive to provide children with a positive dental experience and love leading a family-friendly and state-of-the-art practice.

I am a Maine native and earned my B.S. in biology from Bates College, then going on to attend dental school at Tufts University. My residency in Pediatric Dentistry was completed at Boston University, where I earned a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies.

I am a member of the Maine Dental Association, American Dental Association, Greater Portland Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Maine Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and Academy of Laser Dentistry.

I am a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist and hold a Standard Proficiency from the Academy of Laser Dentistry.

When I am not in the office, I spend my time at home in North Yarmouth with my wife, son and daughter. I am a triathlete and also love to Nordic ski, as well as tending to my fruit trees and bee hives.

The Team

Trisha

Registered Dental Hygienist

Although I was born and raised in Massachusetts, I now consider myself a Mainer at heart. Our state is truly beautiful.  Away from the office you can find myself, my husband and my two sons outside as much as possible – hiking, biking, swimming, skiing and exploring with our dog Bruce.

Here in the office you can almost always find me goofing off around with my patients. I absolutely love working with children. They make me laugh and I enjoy being able to explore the world through their eyes. When I graduated hygiene school in 2008, I knew pediatrics is where I wanted to be, and I have never looked back! I graduated from the University of New England in 2008 with a B.S. in Dental Hygiene and am an active member of the Maine Dental Hygiene Association.

I cannot wait to meet your little and introduce all the fun we have here at Dirigo Pediatric Dentistry. Seeing kids become comfortable, confident, and proud to show off their smiles is my daily goal.  I look forward to the opportunity to provide a safe and friendly environment where your child will be excited to visit every six months!

Kayla

Registered Dental Hygienist

I am a Registered Dental Hygienist at Dirigo Pediatric. I was born and raised in Maine, and graduated from the University of New England in 2009. From there, I practiced over 4 years in general dentistry. My love for children and working with young individuals led me to make the transition to pediatrics for the last 5 years. I really enjoy watching my patients grow and change throughout the years!

When I am not making smiles clean and bright, I am a busy wife and chauffeur to my three young children. I can be found at Tball games or at dance lessons. Our family enjoys being outdoors -boating, hiking, skiing and camping.

I am eager to help educate you and your child on how oral health and routine dental visits can be positive and fun!

Cara

Practice Manager, RDH, MSeD

I was born and raised in Maine and graduated from the University of New England in 2008 with my B.S. in Dental Hygiene. I most recently completed my MSeD through St. Joseph’s College of Maine. I would consider myself a lifelong learner, and most who know me would say that I do not know how to function if I am not busy doing something.

With over 12 years of experience as a pediatric Dental Hygienist, I am ready for a new task in the office as Practice Manager. With my experience and knowledge as a Dental Hygienist and my yearning to take on new challenges I am excited to make your visit here a great experience.

I am a member of the Maine Dental Hygiene Association and am also a Clinical Instructor at the University of New England Dental Hygiene Program.

In my spare time I enjoy boating and hiking and being outdoors with my husband, our son and our dog Lilee. I love to play tennis, cross country ski, watch football and play in a fantasy league. The smell and sound of the ocean brings me happiness.

Addie

Patient Care Coordinator

From the moment your child comes through the door I strive for them to feel welcome, excited to be with us, and quite frankly super special. As a mommy of two young kiddos I know how important it is for children to feel comfortable in a new space. I focus on the fun to start them off on their amazing experience with us.

I spend my free time with my husband and two children on our family beef and registered tree farm in Limington where my family has lived and worked for generations spanning over several hundred years. My children are the 4th generation on our farm active in 4-H. I am a lifelong 4-H’er and as a result I have a strong drive to serve my community. I come from a business background originally and earned my BA in both Political Science and Geography with the Univ. of Maine Farmington.

Val

Patient Care Coordinator

I am originally from a small town in western New Hampshire, but moved to Maine in 2005 when I graduated from the University of New Hampshire. I have a BA in Recreation Management, a minor in Early Childhood Education, and most recently became a Certified Nursing Assistant. I have lived and worked in the Yarmouth area for the last 14 years teaching preschool and coordinating after school programs in Falmouth and Cumberland.  I am married, have a 6 year old daughter, 3 dogs, and 2 cats.  In my spare time I like to read, play with my daughter, hike with my dogs, canoe, and in general, spend as much time outside as possible.

It is my sincere pleasure to have the opportunity to work with your kiddos in this new capacity of Patient Care Coordinator. I look forward to helping your children feel at ease in a new environment; making them feel comfortable and confident is my goal.

Addy

Registered Dental Hygienist

I make children’s smiles my top priority, it is my goal that they have a positive dental experience in an environment where they can thrive. I was born and raised in Vermont and moved to Maine where I received my Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from University of New England.

I am an active member of the Maine Dental Hygiene Association. As well as a member of Sigma Phi Alpha, the National Dental Hygiene Honors Society.

When I’m not in the office, I’m at home in Westbrook with my loving boyfriend and incredible roommates. I enjoy getting out doors to experience all that Maine has to offer including hiking, boating in the summer and snowshoeing during the winter.

Kim

Registered Dental Hygienist

Everyone deserves to be heard, no matter how small. My objective during each dental visit is to ensure your child feels welcomed, whilst providing a calming and fun experience.

I am a native Mainer, and spent much of my youth playing sports and riding horseback. Becoming a dental hygienist was a natural fit for me. I had positive interactions with dental professionals during my adolescence, which inspired me to become a registered dental hygienist (RDH). I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of New England and am certified to administer local anesthesia.

Away from work, I spend my days with my husband and two year old daughter. I’m an avid traveler, enjoy writing, playing piano, sewing, hiking and yoga. We have two rescue dogs, Lilly and Will, and a Maine Coon Cat named Ansel Adams.

Thank you for allowing me to care for your child and to educate them on ways to maintain optimum oral health.

Ang

Patient Care Coordinator

I am a Patient Care Coordinator within the practice. Having spent most of my adult life in Early Childhood and Special Education, working in a pediatric dentist office is a fantastic fit. Not to mention, my love of office supplies runs deep.

Outside the office I spend my free time enjoying all Maine has to offer with my husband, our two tiny humans, and our two dogs. I can often be found with my nose in a book or planning the next party.

Making people smile and feel welcome is a major goal in my daily encounters. Also, I believe there is nothing in life that can’t be solved by sprinkling a little sarcasm on it or by interpretive dance.

Brittany

Patient Care Coordinator

I am a native Mainer, who loves all living things, big and small. Everyone has a path and story to tell and they are all beautifully unique, and I love them all.

After moving to Vermont for college, building a career in the hospitality industry, and watching almost every sunset over Lake Champlain, it was time for a change.

I come from a close, fun, loving family, and the importance of being near family brought me home. Vermont will always hold a small piece of my heart, but my family and Maine hold a much larger one.

I enjoy adventuring with my boyfriend and two fun-loving rescue pups. I love to travel; exploring new places, experiencing new cultures and foods, learning new languages, and meeting new people.

It is my goal to translate your stories and experiences here into a comfortable yet professional, positive, and fun experience. I look forward to meeting you!

Jenessa

Dental Hygienist

I was born and raised here in Maine and I am very excited to be working in a pediatric office treating children everyday.  I recently graduated from the University of New England where I obtained my degree in BS of Dental Hygiene, but due to COVID I am currently trying to complete my licensure exams to become a Registered Dental Hygienist.

I have a lot of experience working with children, from being a camp counselor, to before and after care, as well as babysitting and nannying. I am so excited to bring my enthusiasm to the office and to promote oral health in a fun way.

I am a dog mom to my 2 year old Pomeranian/Chihuahua pup, Winnie. I love summer and the sunshine. I am definitely a "people-person" and love spending time with my friends and family. I would describe myself as spontaneous, and I like to keep active with anything outdoors.

I can’t wait to meet you and your families!

Sue

Dental Assistant

I’m a Maine native and live in Yarmouth. I have two older children and I love working with kids which is why I am passionate about being a dental assistant. I also operate and manage my own businesses as a home based licensed massage therapist and travel agent. I love to travel and anything related to the ocean.

I attended the University of Southern Maine and Southern Maine Community College with a focus on Business Administration. I also received my license in massage therapy from the Polarity Realization Institute.
